Background
Date of Origin: April 7, 2026
Purpose
- To provide for and present programs of honor and recognition to living veterans and/or,
- To spread the ideals of Americanism and Civics to children in schools and day care facilities.
Committee Structure
The Committee shall be comprised of a Chair selected by election from the membership, and several members who are interested in the Committee’s purpose.
The Chair will appoint a Co-Chair who will take the place of the Chair if circumstances warrant and act as advisor to the Chair.
The Chair shall prepare a Member Contact Sheet to be distributed to the members of the committee, Committee Liaison, and Auxiliary President.
A simple majority of committee members will dictate a quorum when votes or business warrants.
A Board of Trustees (BOT) member appointed by the Auxiliary President shall have oversight of Committee actions and be the Liaison between the Committee and BOT. The Liaison will report activities of the Committee to the BOT at monthly BOT meetings.
Meetings
Meetings will be called by the Chair in consultation with the Liaison of the Committee for a specific purpose(s). The Committee Liaison shall be invited to all meetings of the Committee. Time and place of Committee meetings shall be determined by need and by the Chair of the Committee and the Liaison. Meetings may be held via social media.
Responsibilities of the Committee
- To select and choose homes or hospitals housing veterans and coordinate date, time, and place for a special program presentation
- To select classrooms in schools, day care facilities, or other venues in which the ideals of Americanism and Civics can be taught or shared
- To develop a program format for the facility’s director/educator
- To report scheduled programs to Committee Liaison for Special Programs Report
- To provide Committee Report at Auxiliary monthly meetings
